Large chunks of the look and noises of that landing remind me of crashing and rolling a Land Rover. This however had a much happier outcome...

Starhopper was the most Kerbal thing SpaceX has built so far, with RCS jets and CO PV tanks basically bolted to a vehicle built by a water tower company.

I think the most important thing going on here isn’t even being talked about. It is that this thing, and it’s twin, are being built outside. No clean room. No high bays. Imagine if they can industrialize rocket building in such a way that you don’t need all the pomp and circumstance around it. That will really drive down costs in a way that will blow Falcon away.

I’m reminded of a pilot I heard talking about fly-by-wire, and how it is the only way that inherently unstable aircraft like the F-117 can fly. As an example, he suggested that you try to balance a broom upright on the palm of your hand. You have to constantly move your hand around or the broom falls. That’s the essence of computer controlled FBW. And that’s the sort of advance that makes all this amazing tech possible. Pretty wild stuff.

-1 rusted Tesla that was painted outside

Or if you’re feeling real adventurous, bolt it on to a rusted out Tesla that was also put together outside.

Yep. Seeing the cold gas thrusters is one thing, but watching that nozzle gimbal around to keep the Hopper balanced was amazingly cool. Faster, please.
